About

I recently obtained my Ph.D. in Archaeology at The Ohio State University.  My research focuses on prehistoric subsistence, settlement, and interaction patterns in the Middle Ohio River Valley, especially during the Late Prehistoric period (AD 1000-1650).  I approach these problems from ecological and evolutionary perspectives.  I use GIS to investigate these issues at multiple space and time scales.  My long-term goals include expanding knowledge of the distribution and spatial structure of archaeological remains in the upper/middle Scioto Valley through a combination of extensive and minimally invasive data generation techniques, and selective excavation.  I have a special interest in documentation and exploration of typically ignored site types in the region (e.g., temporary camps, extractive sites, agricultural activity loci) to gain a more complete knowledge of the strategies employed to exploit and interact with the environment.
